When preparing artwork files, please follow these general guidelines:
Applications Supported: (ready-to-run artwork for Mac or PC) Illustrator CS5, Adobe PhotoShop CS5, Indesign CS5 or Acrobat v8.0.
File Formats Supported: TIFF, EPS, AI, JPG, PDF, PNG, Postscript print files configured to our printers.
Layout files should be setup using Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop (Mac or PC). The page size should be setup at an intermediate size that can be enlarged proportionately. For example, 12” x 18″ original page size, can be enlarged 300% for a final output size of 36″ x 54″. Optimal file resolution for large format printing is 100dpi at full size.
If your output requires bleed, please ensure it is added where required. We cannot assume responsibility if information is lost in the trimming process if this is not taken into consideration. If there is no bleed in the layout we will enlarge the graphic to accommodate for lack thereof.
DO NOT embed your linked files in Illustrator, instead include those linked files with the final job.
Disk Media Supported CD, DVD, Firewire and/or USB connectable storage devices.
If you wish to transfer your files via Internet, please compress your files with WinZip (for those on the PC platform) or Stuffit (if your on the MAC platform). The e-mail file size limit is 10MB, files exceeding this limitation may be transferred using our yousendit dropbox site: Connect to www.wordendisplays.com , click on the send file button, fill out the information required and send file.
Ensure that all fonts specific to your job are included or “suitcased”. This includes both screen and printer fonts or any OpenType fonts as well DO NOT use keyboard commands for bold or italic fonts. Use actual bold or italic fonts where applicable. For CorelDraw and QuarkExpress files, please convert all fonts into curves and save as
an Adobe Illustrator AI, EPS or PDF file format.
(For optimal resolution and results, please use the following guidelines.) For most images, scanning at a resolution of 100 dpi, at full size will yield suitable results. For large images being viewed at
far distances, a scan resolution of at full size will be more than sufficient. Scan images in RGB mode before converting to CMYK for optimal colour depth. Save images as Photoshop, EPS, or TIFF formats.
Tip: If in doubt, please provide an RGB file size between 100-200 Mb (interpolation is not recommended) If you are providing artwork for scanning, transparencies achieve the best results.
Please provide either an IRIS, 3M Rainbow, any dye-sublimation or color calibrated laser proofing device with an Adobe compliant postscript interpreter (RIP). Desktop inkjet prints are not acceptable as color proofs! Due to differences in inks and materials used by other printing processes, we do not recommend matching to printed material or stock.
